Remuneration

Special contracts, long-term employment and employment on ships above a certain size and number of passengers (cruise ships) are generally paid a salary. These rates differ greatly and are dependent upon the respective shipping company or the ship owner, so no reference figure can be given.

They range from low five-figure sums on cruise ships with crews of several thousand, to single payments on small cruise ships in accordance with special Fee Schedules. In addition, the chance to take someone with you at no extra cost and the assumption of travel costs there and back is typical.

With private sailing clubs it is usual for ships' doctors to receive board and lodgings for the sailing trip ("berth for doctor" placement).

If a contract is remunerated, the payment figure will appear in the offer you receive from us, dependent on the individual contract.
